The detail in these 2 vintage embroidered panels from the Hmong hill tribe people of northern Laos is exceptional. While there is some fading of the silk and cotton threads, the overall condition is excellent. It is most likely from the second half of the 20th century. The Hmong are a colourful hill tribe people found living throughout Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma and Yunnan. The embroidery skills of Hmong women is well known and respected throughout the region and by textile collectors in the west.
